Weird or Genius?

Summery weather has finally arrived in our part of the world, which we thoroughly celebrated this past weekend. And while I am still working on my recent pictures, I've decided to share with you the photo shoot that we had a month ago, in April, at Gas Works Park - Seattle's most unusual park for sure, and perhaps one of the world's weirdest too. Are you intrigued? Are you interested in learning about it? Then dive in with me!

Only Jumpsuits

It's been a busy week and busy weekend with Mother's Day celebration, going to some of my favorite places. Our weather still cannot quite decide whether it should finally become warm and sunny or stay cold and rainy for just a little longer, which makes it tricky to choose what to wear. So in the end I took it easy and wore jumpsuits. One is old and has appeared on the blog numerous times, but this time in a new combination (photo in a garden), and the other one was purchased earlier in Spring and waited for just the right occasion. That occasion happened to be the season finale at Symphony Tacoma, with the world premier piece Fire Mountain by Daniel Ott. If you are interested in learning a little about this unique event, HERE is a review by John Falskow which I find quite profound.

Sleepless in Seattle: Ode to Life and Stories

* I've just realized as I finished writing that this is my 400th post (in less than 4 years of this blog)! Wahoo!
It makes my today's post even more special and celebratory.

You knew I had to do it sooner or later, yes? Tina mentioned in her comment just recently that all she knew about Seattle before my blog was Sleepless in Seattle, the 1993 movie with Tom Hanks, and I wasn't surprised at all. 10 years ago (exactly 10 in a week), prior to our moving to this area from across the country, it was pretty much all I knew about Seattle as well.

July in the City //

This linen kimono and trousers set is one of my absolute favorite purchases ever. I bought it back in March, and when the parcel arrived from London, I just couldn't wait for the weather to get warmer. It so happened that I had to wait for almost 2 months! I know it's still only early May, but to me, it's an ultimate summer city outfit, and when we got a couple of summery days (which ended with an unbelievable for this city series of thunderstorm), I was eager to wear it.

Modish Matrons #11: Buds and Blooms //

April showers bring May flowers, as we all know, and we had plenty of rain here not only in April, but also in March...and February...and January...and December...and November...and I probably wouldn't be too wrong if I say in October as well. It was a rainy year, what else is there to say! So as we welcome the month of May, we want to celebrate buds and blooms in all forms, sizes, colors and shapes, much like women and their outfits! We invite you to join the 11th issue of our monthly link-up with your floral or other Spring-inspired outfits!

First Post in Russian //

I wore this outfit yesterday for a lunch date and a bit of shopping with Justin, but its prototype was born a day before it, and as I hung it on a curtain rod to work my magic, I wrote a letter to my dear old girlfriends in Russia. It was such a light and inspired letter that I decided I would post it here (shortened by just a bit). And since I have been considering the idea to write in both English and Russian in this blog, I thought I'd post both the original in Russian and English translation.

Birkenwald at the Seattle Art Museum

Last weekend, we had a rare opportunity to spend all day together as a family, and since it was rainy outside, I picked a trip to a museum. I wanted to catch the last chance to see the Jacobs Lawrence: Migration Series exhibit offered by the Seattle Art Museum (SAM), and it was absolutely worth it - if you're interested, you can check out my Russian article about this exhibit HERE and see the whole series which contains 60 panels telling the powerful story of the Great Migration in the album I shared on my FB page HERE (the album is public). But it wasn't all we wanted to see in the museum, and while we loved the Lawrence exhibit, it is closed by now, but the other unique temporary exhibit we visited, called Seeing Nature, is open till May 23, so if you're in town, get your tickets now, I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy it!
